Thought folks might be interested in Pay What You Can night next Tuesday evening at the Olney theatre. I typically pay 5-10$ and the shows are great.

Arrive early! Pay-What-You-Can Night!

Tuesday, September 26 at 7:30 pm

by Larry Shue
directed by Stewart F. Lane
on the New Mainstage

Tickets will go on sale at 6:30 pm Tuesday evening (seating is general admission).

“I sometimes wonder-how does one obtain a personality?” So questions Charlie, a painfully shy Englishman on holiday in the U.S.A. with gregarious Froggy, a freelance demolition expert. They’re staying at a lodge in the backwoods of Georgia, where Charlie attempts to avoid social interaction with the colorful locals by passing himself off as a foreigner who doesn’t speak a word of English. This ploy backfires entirely as Charlie becomes the center of attention, confidant to all, and witness to secrets and scandals. The laughs are continuous throughout this engaging comedy directed by Tony Award-winner Stewart F. Lane.

Regularly scheduled performances September 27-October 22. Tickets $34-$44

Source for Books

Posted in Books, Discounts, Kids, Products, Resource, Stores by jboyko on the August 14, 2006

For our family, the fall leading into winter is jam packed with birthdays followed by the holidays. I am trying to get a head start on gift buying this year. One internet source I have found particularly great for kids books is Bookcloseouts.com. I just bought a stash of great kids book for some of the upcoming birthdays. For instance, my son loves the book, “Little Quack’s Hide and Seek”. A nice hardcover version is $5.99 marked down from a list price of $14.95 (and $10.17 at Amazon). They also have a good selection of softcover books, board books, and coloring/activity books for even less. I bought a box of various books for gifts and got 17 great kids books for $74.83 plus $6.95 shipping. You can also pick up inexpensive books or coloring books here to use in lieu of goody bags at kids parties.

Any other great gift resources in the local area or on-line? I could really use some new suggestions!

Children’s Day at the Montgomery Co. Agricultural Fair

Posted in Activities, Discounts, Entertainment, Freebies, Kids by jboyko on the August 14, 2006

Tomorrow, Monday, August 14, children ages 18 and under get into the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair for free (adults are $7). All exhibits will be open, the carnival opens at 11am, the 4H Flying Tigers rocket launch is from 11am-1pm, and if you can last that long, a tractor pull is on schedule for 7:30pm (for an additional fee of $10 per person). Check out the schedule and more info about the fair.

Two Deals at Target

Posted in Discounts, Kids, Products, Stores by jboyko on the August 11, 2006

I was in Target (in Cherry Hill) today and saw two deals I thought
worth mentioning. First they have swim diapers on clearance. They
were a couple of dollars off the regular prices. If you still have
swim classes into the fall, they might be worth checking out. They
seemed to have a variety of sizes and brands. They were on an end cap
by the pharmacy.

The other deal was a cartridge for the Leapster, if you have a child
into such things. They had the Letter Factory cartridge, regularly
$24.95 on sale for $6.22 in another clearance aisle just past the toy
section toward the back of the store. I picked one up for my son for
his birthday. He loves the Leapster.

If you spot any good deals out there, please share.

Amazon.com Grocery

Posted in Discounts, Groceries, Sales, Stores by jboyko on the August 5, 2006

From Katie on the Yahoo Group:

For those who like to buy in bulk (and don’t like to go to the
store!), Amazon.com is beta-testing their new grocery site now & you
can get $10 off any purchase of $49 or more through Aug 31st. All
items in their grocery store include free shipping, too, which is
good. What I like about the site is it has some products that are
sometimes hard to find and/or rarely go on sale and/or are difficult
to find in bulk (e.g., McCann’s Irish Oatmeal and Glide floss tape!).
I’ve seen that the level of discounts vary depending on the product,
so pay attention to the % off and make sure you know your prices.

What I haven’t figured out yet is whether you can use this promotion
more than once (I haven’t figured out that you can’t, but I haven’t
tested it yet).

Thanks, Katie!
